Is net carbon negative crude achievable with CO2 enhanced oil recovery?

Conference ·
OSTI ID:1576779
This work was presented at the Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Conference in Nashville, TN on June 16, 2016. Presentation on the NETL LCA of CO2-EOR) The presentation covers the NETL model of CO-EOR and an approach to managing the electricity co-product from the system. The GHG emissions of the system are highly dependent on the performance of the reservoir - how much oil is generated for a given amount of CO2, and by the GHG emissions of the source of CO2 relative to other sources of electricity.
