Impacts of Carbon Capture on Life Cycle Inventory of Ammonia and Petroleum Products for Comparison to Thermoelectric Power Generation - LCAXVII

Conference ·
OSTI ID:1576772
This work was presented at the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA) LCAXVII Conference in Portsmouth, NH on October 5, 2017. The objectives of this study are to create an updated baseline life cycle inventory for petroleum products considering the full suite of TRACI impacts that expands upon Cooney et al. and to understand the effect of implementing carbon capture on the environmental profile of refineries. This inventory adds toxic air emissions and releases to water and soil to NETL’s previous unit process data. The approach demonstrates how detailed national inventory data can be used to improve LCA unit process data. Facility-level variability is presented and the implications for uncertainty analysis and interpretation of results are discussed.
