Reconstitution of MSR Fuel by Reducing UF6 Gas to UF4 in a Molten Salt
- Oak Ridge National Lab. (ORNL), Oak Ridge, TN (United States)
The direct reduction of UF6 to UF4 in a molten salt is proposed as a step in the purification of fuel salt from a molten salt reactor. This step would replace the conventional method of reduction in which UF6 is reduced to UF4 powder in a H2 - F2 flame.
