The hearing addresses a bill (S. 1834) to amend the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). This Superfund Reform Act proposes to provide a revenue source and creat a new Environmental Insurance Resolution Fund to resolve diputes between the parties potentially responsible for cleanup of sites. The revenue source generally extends the four present-law taxes that fund the Superfund program through the year 2000. The legislative text of the Bill is given with amendments.
