This report describes the principal factors affecting the design and fabrication of the accelerating structure that will be used for the Stanford two-mile linear electron accelerator. The structure will be an all-copper, cylindrical, disk-loaded waveguide, approximately four inches in diameter, and 10,000 feet long. When powered by 240 klystron amplifiers, each operating at a peak power of 24 megawatts, the accelerator will produce a 20-Bev electron beam at an average beam current of 30 microamperes (10% beam loading). By increasing the number of klystrons to 960, should this eventually be warranted, the beam energy could be increased to 40 Bev, and the average beam current to 60 microamperes.
