This was a collaborative effort between Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC as manager and operator of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and Structural Composites Industries, LLC (SCI), to develop optimized and inexpensive cryogenic pressure vessels for hydrogen storage. The technical objective of this CRADA was to transfer the cryogenic pressure vessel technology to the private sector, providing a direct path to commercialization. LLNL would accomplish this by working with SCI in designing, manufacturing and testing cryogenic pressure vessels that will meet all specifications for future hydrogen vehicles. The planned joint work included tool development for improved designs, vessel analysis, prototype manufacture and testing, and development of techniques for series production.
