Two new fluorinated monomers were synthesized by reacting 4-fluoro(2-hydroxyhexafluoroisopropyl)benzene, with acrylic or methacrylic acid chlorides. The homo- and co-polymerizations of these monomers were effected by bulk, free radical polymerization technique using AIBN ({alpha},{alpha}`-azobisisobutyronitrile) as initiator. These polymers were obtained in yields up to 79% and had viscosities ranging from 0.17 to 0.76 dl g{sup {minus}1}. The synthesis and thermal characterization of these new polyacrylates will be presented.
