The interest is superdeformation in the A = 190 region has spurred in-beam studies of the neutron deficient Pb nuclei. Superdeformed (SD) bands have been identified in {sup 192,194,196,198}Pb. DSAM measurements on the SD band in {sup 194}Pb show that its transition quadrupole moment is equal to that of the SD band in {sup 192}Hg. In addition, another type of collective band is observed systematically from {sup 192}Pb to {sup 201}Pb, characterized by fast M1 transitions ({approximately} 1 WU), and large B(M1)/b(E2) ratios ({approximately} 20{mu}2/e2b2). These bands have transition energies either increasing monotonically up the band with increasing spin (regular bands), or fluctuating with increasing spin (irregular bands). These bands have been characterized as oblate structures with a small deformation, though much interpretative work remains to completely understand them. The authors will discuss the most recent studies of collective deformed structures in Pb nuclei.
