The authors have performed heat capacity measurement on H{sub 2} adsorbed on graphite preplated with either a monolayer of Ne or a monolayer of D{sub 2}, to search for low temperature 2D liquid H{sub 2}. They find evidence indicating that up to 80% of the Ne preplating is displaced by H{sub 2}, followed by H{sub 2} growing on itself. This is in contrast to H{sub 2} on D{sub 2} preplated graphite in which H{sub 2} grows on D{sub 2} and possibly 2D liquid H{sub 2} exists down to 5.74K. 9 refs., 1 fig.
