A preceramic polymer (GE SR350 silicone resin) was used to join sintered {alpha}-SiC bodies. SiC specimens were heated in an argon flux at temperatures ranging from 900{degrees}C to 1200{degrees}C, without applying any pressure. In some conditions, room temperature fracture shear stress values were as high as 37 MPa. In the case of SiC/SiC fiber composites, the shear stress values were about 55% of that of the composite itself.
