Distribution over the XeF(B,D) vibrational and rotational states upon photodissociation of XeF{sub 2}
- St. Petersburg State Univ. (Russian Federation)
Distribution over the rotational and vibrational degrees of freedom of the photodissociation fragments was studied upon stationary excitation of XeF{sub 2} vapor in the VUV spectral range. The XeF(B,D) excimers formed during photodissociation of XeF{sub 2} were found to be in the state thermalized over the rotational degree of freedom. The distribution over the vibrational state depends on the energy of the exciting photon. The pulse model is shown to be unsuitable for description of the photodissociation process in this case. The Franck-Condon model qualitatively explains the experimental dependences. The XeF(B,D) excimers with large stored vibrational energy were found to be produced during photodissociation of XeF{sub 2} in the spectral region of {lambda} < 140 nm. This suggests a new way of interpreting the experimental data published earlier. 28 refs., 4 figs., 1 tab.
