Simulation of radiation-chemical oxidation of Np(IV) in nitric acid solutions

Simulation was performed of radiolytic behavior of Np(IV) in 0.7-6 M HNO{sub 3}. Rate constants for the reactions Np(IV) + OH and Np(IV) + NO{sub 3} have been found by comparing experimental and simulated kinetic curves and radiation-chemical yields of Np(IV) oxidation. The mechanisms of the influence of HNO{sub 3} and Np(IV) concentrations and the irradiation dose rate on the efficiency of Np(IV) oxidation are discussed.
