Having in mind the influence of cations on the all stages of zeolite synthesis, we undertook a study to cast more light on the influence of alkali cations (Li, Na, K) on the chemical and structural properties of the amorphous aluminosilicate gel precursors and consequence of these properties on zeolite crystallization. For this reason, the solid phases precipitated from the batches of the following molar composition: 4.41 Me{sub 2}O{sm_bullet}Al{sub 2}O{sub 3}{sm_bullet}3 SiO{sub 2}{sm_bullet}222.2 H{sub 2}O (Me = Li, Li+Na, Na, Na+K and K) were hydrothermally treated by 2M NaOH solution at 80{degrees}C. Kinetics of nucleation and crystal growth of zeolites A and X as well as the particulate properties of the crystalline end products were discussed in the terms of chemical and structural properties of the gels.
