Economic evaluation of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems. Final report, Volume 3
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:123180
The Electric Power Research Institute contracted with Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, Inc. to update the FGD process costs originally presented in the 1982 EPRI study, {open_quotes}Economic Evaluations of FGD Systems{close_quotes} and to analyze the technical merit and commercial status of currently available and emerging SO{sub 2} control technologies. This addendum to the second volume of the final report presents and compares the results for four additional FGD processes. A total of 28 process evaluations were included in the first two volumes of the report that were published in 1991 and 1992. A material and energy balance, process flow sheet, major equipment listing, system description, and utility consumption list form the basis of each FGD evaluation. Each evaluation includes a capital cost estimate, a first-year operating cost analysis, and a levelized cost evaluation (constant and current dollars). All economics were developed according to the standard EPRI Economic Premises.
