A unique feature of the {open_quotes}100 MW Demonstration of the Chiyoda Thoroughbred-121 (CT-121) Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Process for High-Sulfur Coal-Fired Boilers{close_quotes} at Plant Yates, Georgia Power Company, is the broad use fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) in construction of major process vessels. This paper summarizes the results of the {open_quotes}FRP Test and Evaluation Program{close_quotes} performed under the auspices of this demonstration project to verify the state-of-the-art in FRP design and construction, evaluate the reliability of material diagnostic tools, and determine the type and extent of maintenance required.
