Characterization of UMG-Based Si Solar Cells

Solar cells made with turnkey lines using UMG stating material have been analyzed in detail, using photo-and electroluminescence, DLIT, quantum efficiency, LBIC life time maps and dark and light I-V. The starting blends of 0, 10, 20, 30 and 100% UMG alloyed with polycrystalline solar grade feed stock. Device efficiencies of 14.5-15.5% were obtained, nearly identical for all blends except 100% UMG.
