The COBRA-IV code was verified against the results of the Westinghouse Advanced Reactor Division (WARD) 11:1 scale liquid metal fast breeder reactor (LMFBR) fuel assembly air flow tests. The major effort in comparing COBRA results with the data was directed toward matching the transverse velocities, though axial velocity comparisons were also made. Four input parameters to the COBRA code are known to have a significant effect on the velocity distribution within a wire-wrapped LMFBR bundle. The relevant parameters are: the turbulent mixing coefficient, the turbulent crossflow resistance factor, the effective pitch length for forcing crossflow and the transverse momentum geometry factor. These were adjusted within physically reasonable ranges to obtain the best calibration with the WARD experimental transverse velocity data for the three subchannel types. Computational results for various values of each of these input quantities are presented in this report for the transverse velocity component of the flow field. Axial velocity comparisons are also made using the calibrated set of parameters.
