Luther College is coordinating a cooperative demonstration project involving schools in northeast Iowa involving area school districts, the Keystone Area education agency and other area colleges and industries. We will establish ten elementary classrooms staffed by master teachers who will provide demonstration classes designed to meet the goals of the AAAS Benchmarks and the NCTM Standards. An intense summer experience to review these national reform efforts will be held in 1994. The master teachers will also select or devise lessons and activities best suited to meet the national standards. Classroom visits by other teachers to these demonstration classrooms will be supported by local Eisenhower funds. An estimated 800 teachers will visit these demonstration classrooms during the 1994-95 school year.
