“Vector processing ‘is a complication to computing, invented to make number crunchers go faster.” Most of the elementary vector operations consist of a series of independent calculations for all elements of the operand vectors, and so may be performed in parallel. Vector processing may thus be seen as one particular form of parallel computing.
