Proceedings: Load management conference. Dynamic DSM options for the future

With radical changes underway in the electric power industry, more and more utilities are seeking ways to reduce costs and improve customer loyalty. This conference focused on how load management can help utilities achieve both goals simultaneously through its roles as a peak-clipping resource option and a value-added, customer service offering. Key issues addressed at the conference included: The electric power industry`s future in a more competitive environment; a regulatory view of the future of LM; an idea of the direction LM is taking on the information superhighway; geographical targeting of LM for T&D benefits; pricing and rate strategies; advanced communication technologies; LM and load monitoring hardware; understanding and working with commercial/industrial customers; planning, implementing, and evaluating residential sector LM programs; program operations and dispatching; and future LM research needs.
