The Japan Power Demonstration Reactor (JPDR) decommissioning program is successfully in progress. The program has a unique feature to segment almost all components into small pieces for packaging and storage in the site of Japan Atomic Energy Research institute. It is therefore important to study the wastes arising from the dismantling activities for characterizing the JPDR decommissioning program. In the study conducted as one of the systems engineering in this program, data on the wastes were analyzed in terms of waste material, container numbers, packaging density, and so on. The results of the data analysis will be useful for planning of future decommissioning of commercial nuclear power reactors.
