Hydrogen Production: Overview of Technology Options (January 2009)

By working together, government and industry can expedite progress in improving the efficiency and economics of hydrogen production. The FreedomCAR & Fuel Partnership brings together the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the major U.S. car manufacturers, energy companies, and utilities in advancing research and development (R&D) to enable high-volume production of affordable hydrogen-powered vehicles and their supporting infrastructure. The Partnership’s Hydrogen Production Technical Team has identified the R&D needs for seven key hydrogen production technologies in the Hydrogen Production Roadmap: Technology Pathways to the Future.
