Where do we go from here? Enrichment in the 21st century

Journal Article · · NUEXCO. Monthly Report to the Nuclear Industry
OSTI ID:104816
Where will we be in the year 2000? After 30 years of the US DOE`s gaseous diffusion plants controlling over fifty percent of the enrichment market, we will be entering a new age. New market participants will be competing with the existing suppliers, and a buyer`s market will persist, with supply greatly exceeding demand. Although leadership will likely be assumed by the gas centrifuge producers-Urenco, Techsnabexport, and Japan Nuclear Fuel Industries (JNFI)-this leadership, in turn, will be challenged by the emerging isotopic separation technologies.
