Full-system BWR decontamination using the LOMI (low-oxidation-state metal-ion) process can feasibly, cost effectively be applied to BWR/5 models. This report describes an EPRI evaluation of LOMI application at Commonwealth Edison`s LaSalle County Station, a BWR/5 plant. Eight key areas were evaluated in terms of full-system decontamination, including: application parameters, long-term materials performance, system interactions, additional equipment requirements, radwaste issues, recontamination, economics, and licensing considerations. This study of LOMI process applicably was based on earlier successful application at Commonwealth Edison`s Quad Cities BWR/3 (EPRI report TR-100049).
