Safety assessment for waste management; Environmental, safety and health
This Safety Assessment (SA) contains the descriptions and evaluations of the significant environmental, health, and safety issues associated with Waste Management at the Pinellas Plant. It provides the following: Site and facility descriptions; An overall description of Waste Management and its operations; An evaluation of the hazards associated with processes and operation that take place within Waste Management; Descriptions and analyses of the adequacy of measures taken to eliminate, control, or mitigate identified hazards; Assessment of potential accidents and their associated risks. The objective of this SA is to document the results of an evaluation of safety-related issues associated with Waste Management. This SA is prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Energy (DOE) Order DOE/AL 5481.1B(Ref.1) to document the safety basis of the facility and to provide information required to determine the need for further safety documentation (i.e., Safety Analysis Report).
