TIDD PFBC Demonstration Project. Quarterly report, July--September 1994

This is the thirty-first Technical Progress Report submitted to the Department of Energy in connection with the Cooperative Agreement between the DOE and the Ohio Power Company for the Tidd PFBC Demonstration Plant. This report covers the period from October 1, 1994, to December 31, 1994. Major activities during this period include: the unit operated for 1216 hours on coal, bringing the grand total for coal fire through the end of the quarter to 10,297 hours; the unit availability for the fourth quarter was 54.15%. The unit availability for 1994 was 54.7%; there were two gas turbine starts, two bed preheater starts, and three operating periods on coal; during this quarter, total gross generation was 64,439 MWH, the peak unit output for one hour was 68 MWH, and the coal consumption was 31,846 tons; six performance tests were conducted during this quarter; and the draft report on the first three years of operation was submitted to the DOE.
