Kerogen oil value enhancement research. Quarterly report, July 1--September 30, 1997

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:10112589
The main objectives to be accomplished during this operating period were: (a) improve hydropyrolysis/thermal hydrodealkylation (HP/THDA) product quality and enhance the HP/THDA conversions, (b) convey refinery feed samples to the industrial partners for industrial inspection, and (c) continue industrial liaison for KPX consortium. Excellent progress is being made in all areas. The HP/THDA unit was tested with topped kerogen oil and a commercial alkylpyridine sample. A few minor details were corrected to improve the performance of the setup. The authors are gearing up to produce sufficient amount of HP product for the subsequent processing. The production of the KBX synthetic refinery feed is complete. The feed is well-characterized and its specification sheet has been prepared. The authors are continuing to pursue the KPX venture development. During this period, they have conducted follow-up dialog among several potential partners. They are now beginning to formulate plans for engineering research which is the next phase of development.
