Award DOI Service Help

Award Number

Site Award Number - To begin the process of assigning a DOI to an award, a Site Award Number that is uniquely assigned by the awarding organization must be provided. This is the award organization assigned award or grant number. When a new record with a Site Award Number is submitted, OSTI will check to see if an identical Site Award Number has already been submitted. If the number has already been submitted, the existing record will appear for possible edits; however, once a Site Award Number is provided, the number itself cannot be edited. This is a required metadata field.

A Site Award Number cannot contain URL-Unsafe characters. This includes: blank spaces < > " # % { } | \ ^ ~ [ ] ` & ; ? / $ ! ' : @ = +

Award DOI Infix

DOI Infix - An optional alpha-numeric string (limited to 50 characters) selected by the awarding site organization as a value that will be inserted within the DOI. A DOI can contain three components. The prefix is the first component and is assigned by the DOI registration agency (Crossref in this case). The prefix for all OSTI assigned award DOIs is 10.46936. The infix is the optional second component that can contain information such as the project or repository names that are useful to the awarding site organization. Once an Award DOI Infix is submitted to OSTI, it cannot be edited because it is part of the DOI string. The suffix is an internal identifier assigned by OSTI. Example DOI: https://doi.org/10.46936/DOEOSTI/12345.

A DOI Infix cannot contain URL-Unsafe characters. This includes: space, <, >, ", #, %, {, }, |, \, ^, ~, [, ], and `.
