(Fundamental studies of carbenes and hydrocarbon radicals): Progress report

Research on carbenes and hydrocarbon radicals continued. The following results are briefly discussed: The rotational spectra of the C/sub 4/D radical, C/sub 5/D, and C/sub 4/D in three vibrationally excited states was measured; rotational spectra of C/sub 2/H and C/sub 4/H in their lowest bending vibrational states was detected; frequency surveys were begun in two discharges (C/sub 2/H/sub 2/ and He/C/sub 2/H/sub 2/, CO, and He) known to produce reactive species; strong absorption lines of SiCC and SiC radical in a discharge through SiH/sub 4/, CO, and C/sub 2/H/sub 2/ were detected.
