This paper reviews the history of oil well prices since the early 1980's and describes the causes for these dramatic rise and falls in prices over the years. It discusses the effects that supply and demand have had on the prices of oil. It then goes on to make predictions of the future oil prices resulting from production available from the new Commonwealth of Independent States (former Soviet Union) and the Saudi's projection production goals. Finally it discusses market predictions showing the lack of available excess production capacity should another oil crisis arise (such as the Kuwait/Iraq war) and the effects this would have on prices.
