Foils for exit windows of industrial electron accelerators with increased current density

The mechanical properties of various foils for exit windows of electron accelerators are studied. It is shown that a foil of VT1-0 alloy 30 ..mu..m thick coated on both sides by aluminum 2.2-2.5 ..mu..m thick and annealed for 2-3 h at a temperature of 1000/sup 0/C makes it possible to double the maximum density of the extracted beam as compared with a foil of the same alloy without coating or heat treatment.
