Experience at Bath County Pumped Storage Station shows that using automated data acquisition systems with geotechnical instrumentation is beneficial. The trick is finding reliable equipment, installing it correctly, and setting up a database management system. This article describes the installation, design, and use of data acquisition equipment at the Bath County facility in Virginia.
