Non-linear astrophysical fluid dynamics; Proceedings of the Fifth Florida Workshop in Non-Linear Astronomy, Univ. of Florida, Gainesville, Oct. 5-7, 1989
- Florida Univ., Gainesville (USA)
Recent advances in nonlinear analytical and numerical approaches to astrophysical problems are discussed in reviews and reports. Topics addressed include the hot bubble and SN calculations, thermonuclear ignition and runaway in type Ia SN, chaotic pulsations in stellar models, classical Cepheid pulsations, bifurcation and unfolding in systems with two time-scales, and discrete map simulations of nonlinear pulsations. Consideration is given to the extended atmospheres of pulsating stars, nonlinear MHD models of astrophysical winds, hydrodynamical simulations of collisions between interstellar clouds, stellar and Jovian vortices, the fluid dynamics of astrophysical jets, and the simulation and visualization of compressible convection in two and three dimensions.
