  1. Western Center for Comparative Risk, Boulder, CO (United States)

Over thirty governments (Tribal, State, and Local) are engaging in a comparative environmental risk process to help set priorities in their environmental management programs. The comparative risk approach in these governments includes human health risk, ecological risk, quality of life risk, public values assessment, environmental justice and other tools. All of these components, not just the more quantifiable risk assessments, play a vital role in setting priorities for the governments. The comparative risk projects of Colorado, California, Washington, and Seattle among others will be described to demonstrate the key elements of current environmental comparative risk projects.
