Experimental reactor physics
Neutronic experiments in moderators, subcritical assemblies, critical assemblies, and nuclear reactors are described, as well as the techniques of radiation measurements necessary to perform these experiments. Previously dispersed data from government reports, journal articles, and specialized monographs are codified. Original information drawn from the author's experience is included, especially on the pulsed source technique, spectrum measurements, research reactors, and exponential assemblies. The book provides the essential information for carrying out, analyzing, and understanding the experiments. Theory is kept to a minimum. Emphasis is placed on the physics of the situation, and the importance of estimating error as well as the mean value of a measured quantity. (auth)
