Title: The experimental study of a high efficiency hydrocyclone for oil/water separation

Hydrocyclone is a centrifugal separation device. Because of their small size, low mean residence tie and high efficiency, hydrocyclones have a potential attraction for oily sewage treatment on offshore oil platforms and ocean-going vessels. Up to now, there have been many problems to be solved on liquid-liquid hydrocyclones. An experimental rig has been set up in the laboratory at Daqing Petroleum Institute. After the theoretical and experimental research for nearly two years, a high efficiency hydrocyclone has been designed. The effect of key parameters (pressure P, flowrate Q{sub i} and split ratio F, etc.) on separation performance has been examined. Preliminary oil field experiments have been satisfactory. The research work on liquid-liquid separation hydrocyclones has a profound significance.
