The present study is aimed to understand the influence of Mo in stabilizing the high temperature bcc β phase, in Ti-15 and 25 wt % Mo alloys through synchrotron based X-ray diffraction experiments. These experiments could confirm the formation of ω phase in Ti-15 wt% Mo alloy and its absence with increase in Mo, for various cooling rates and aging treatments. Addition of Mo stabilizes the bcc β phase and the threshold concentration is identified to be between 15 and 25 wt % Mo.
