Materials Data on LuAl3 by Materials Project
LuAl3 is Uranium Silicide structured and crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Lu is bonded to twelve equivalent Al atoms to form LuAl12 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent LuAl12 cuboctahedra, edges with twenty-four equivalent AlLu4Al8 cuboctahedra, faces with six equivalent LuAl12 cuboctahedra, and faces with twelve equivalent AlLu4Al8 cuboctahedra. All Lu–Al bond lengths are 2.97 Å. Al is bonded to four equivalent Lu and eight equivalent Al atoms to form AlLu4Al8 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent AlLu4Al8 cuboctahedra, edges with eight equivalent LuAl12 cuboctahedra, edges with sixteen equivalent AlLu4Al8 cuboctahedra, faces with four equivalent LuAl12 cuboctahedra, and faces with fourteen equivalent AlLu4Al8 cuboctahedra. All Al–Al bond lengths are 2.97 Å.
