Theoretical Analysis of the U L-3–Edge NEXAFS for U Oxides

Rigorous theoretical studies of the Uranium L3 near edge X-ray adsorption fine structure, NEXAFS, of different oxidation states of U in UOx are reported to show the origin of the shape and the width of the NEXAFS peak and to show how these features can be used to identify the U oxidation state.
