  1. Precision measurement of the $$Ξ^0_b$$ baryon lifetime

A sample of 𝑝⁒𝑝 collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fbβˆ’1 and collected by the LHCb experiment during LHC Run 2, is used to measure the ratio of the lifetime of the $$Ξ^0_b$$ baryon to that of the $$Ξ›^0_b$$ baryon, π‘Ÿπœ $$≑$$ $$𝜏_{Ξ^0_b}$$$$/𝜏_{Ξ›^0_b}$$. The value π‘Ÿ$$^{\textrm{Run 2}}_𝜏$$ =1.004 Β± 0.009 Β± 0.006 is obtained, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This value is averaged with the corresponding value from Run 1 to obtain π‘Ÿπœ =1.004 Β± 0.008 Β± 0.005. Multiplying by the known value of the $$Ξ›^0_b$$ lifetime yields $$𝜏_{Ξ^0_b}$$ = 1.475 Β±more » 0.012 Β± 0.008 Β± 0.009 ps, where the last uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the $$Ξ›^0_b$$ lifetime. This measurement improves the precision of the current world average of the $$Ξ^0_b$$ lifetime by about a factor of two, and is in good agreement with the most recent theoretical predictions.« less
  2. Study of light-meson resonances decaying to K S 0 K Ο€ in the B β†’ ( K S 0 K Ο€ ) K channels

    A study is presented of B + β†’ K S 0 K βˆ’ Ο€ + K + and B + β†’ K S 0 K + Ο€ βˆ’ K + decays based on the analysis of proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9     fb βˆ’ 1 . The more » K S 0 K Ο€ invariant-mass distributions of both B + decay modes show, in the m ( K S 0 K Ο€ ) < 1.85     GeV mass region, large activity which is resolved using an amplitude analysis. A simple model, where J P C amplitudes are described by multiple Breit-Wigner functions with appropriate angular distributions, provides a good description of the experimental data. In this approach a complex mixture of J P C = 0 βˆ’ + , 1 + + and 1 + βˆ’ amplitudes is observed that is dominated by Ξ· ( 1405 ) , Ξ· ( 1470 ) , Ξ· ( 1760 ) , f 1 ( 1285 ) , f 1 ( 1420 ) and h 1 ( 1405 ) resonances. The K S 0 K Ο€ Dalitz plots are dominated by asymmetric crossing K * K Β― bands which are different for the two B + decay modes. This is due to a different interference pattern between the 1 + + and 1 + βˆ’ amplitudes in the two channels. Branching fractions are measured for each resonant contribution. 3. Branching fraction measurement of the decay B + β†’ ψ ( 2 S ) Ο• ( 1020 ) K +

    The branching fraction of the decay B + β†’ ψ ( 2 S ) Ο• ( 1020 ) K + , relative to the topologically similar decay B + β†’ J / ψ Ο• ( 1020 ) K + , is measured using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9     fb βˆ’ 1 . The ratio is found to be 0.061 Β± 0.004more » Β± 0.009 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Using the world-average branching fraction for B + β†’ J / ψ Ο• ( 1020 ) K + , the branching fraction for the decay B + β†’ ψ ( 2 S ) Ο• ( 1020 ) K + is found to be ( 3.0 Β± 0.2 Β± 0.5 Β± 0.2 ) Γ— 10 βˆ’ 6 , where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the branching fraction of the normalization channel. 4. Search for resonance-enhanced C P and angular asymmetries in the Ξ› c + β†’ p ΞΌ + ΞΌ βˆ’ decay at LHCb

    The first measurement of the C P asymmetry of the decay rate ( A C P ) and the C P average ( Ξ£ A FB ) and C P asymmetry ( Ξ” A FB ) of the forward-backward asymmetry in the muon system of Ξ› c + β†’ p ΞΌ + ΞΌ βˆ’ decays is reported. The measurement is performed using a data sample of proton-proton collisions, recordedmore » by the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, which corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.4     fb βˆ’ 1 . The asymmetries are measured in two regions of dimuon mass near the  Ο• -meson mass peak. The dimuon-mass integrated results are A C P = ( βˆ’ 1.1 Β± 4.0 Β± 0.5 ) % , Ξ£ A FB = ( 3.9 Β± 4.0 Β± 0.6 ) % , Ξ” A FB = ( 3.1 Β± 4.0 Β± 0.4 ) % , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The results are consistent with the conservation of C P symmetry and the Standard Model expectations. Β© 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration 2025 CERN« less
  5. Test of Lepton Flavor Universality with B + β†’ K + Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ β„“ + β„“ βˆ’ Decays

    The first test of lepton flavor universality between muons and electrons using B + β†’ K + Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ β„“ + β„“ βˆ’ ( β„“ = e , ΞΌ ) decays is presented. The measurement is performed with data from proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7,more » 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9     fb βˆ’ 1 . The ratio of branching fractions between B + β†’ K + Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ e + e βˆ’ and B + β†’ K + Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ ΞΌ + ΞΌ βˆ’ decays is measured in the dilepton invariant-mass-squared range 1.1 < q 2 < 7.0     GeV 2 / c 4 and is found to be R K Ο€ Ο€ βˆ’ 1 = 1.3 1 βˆ’ 0.17 + 0.18 ( stat )   βˆ’ 0.09 + 0.12 ( syst ) , in agreement with the standard model prediction. The first observation of the B + β†’ K + Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ e + e βˆ’ decay is also reported. Β© 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration 2025 CERN« less
  6. Measurement of C P asymmetries in Ξ› b 0 β†’ p h βˆ’ decays

    A search for C P violation in Ξ› b 0 β†’ p K βˆ’ and Ξ› b 0 β†’ p Ο€ βˆ’ decays is presented using the full Run 1 and Run 2 data samples of p p collisions collected with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9     fb βˆ’ 1 at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. For the Run 2 data sample, the C P -violatingmore » asymmetries are measured to be A C P p K βˆ’ = ( βˆ’ 1.4 Β± 0.7 Β± 0.4 ) % and A C P p Ο€ βˆ’ = ( 0.4 Β± 0.9 Β± 0.4 ) % , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Following significant improvements in the evaluation of systematic uncertainties compared to the previous LHCb measurement, the Run 1 dataset is reanalyzed to update the corresponding results. When combining the Run 2 and updated Run 1 measurements, the final results are found to be A C P p K βˆ’ = ( βˆ’ 1.1 Β± 0.7 Β± 0.4 ) % and A C P p Ο€ βˆ’ = ( 0.2 Β± 0.8 Β± 0.4 ) % , constituting the most precise measurements of these asymmetries to date. 7. Search for D 0 meson decays to Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ e + e βˆ’ and K + K βˆ’ e + e βˆ’ final states

A search for D 0 meson decays to the Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ e + e βˆ’ and K + K βˆ’ e + e βˆ’ final states is reported using a sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6     fb βˆ’ 1 . The decay D 0 β†’ Ο€more » + Ο€ βˆ’ e + e βˆ’ is observed for the first time when requiring that the two electrons are consistent with coming from the decay of a Ο• or ρ 0 / Ο‰ meson. The corresponding branching fractions are measured relative to the D 0 β†’ K βˆ’ Ο€ βˆ’ [ e + e βˆ’ ] ρ 0 / Ο‰ decay, where the two electrons are consistent with coming from the decay of a ρ 0 or Ο‰ meson. No evidence is found for the D 0 β†’ K + K βˆ’ e + e βˆ’ decay and world-best limits are set on its branching fraction. The results are compared to, and found to be consistent with, the branching fractions of the D 0 β†’ Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ ΞΌ + ΞΌ βˆ’ and D 0 β†’ K + K βˆ’ ΞΌ + ΞΌ βˆ’ decays recently measured by LHCb and confirm lepton universality at the current precision. 8. Test of Lepton Flavor Universality with B s 0 β†’ Ο• β„“ + β„“ βˆ’ Decays

    Lepton flavor universality in rare b β†’ s transitions is tested for the first time using B s 0 meson decays. The measurements are performed using p p collision data collected by the LHCb experiment between 2011 and 2018, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 9     fb βˆ’ 1 . Branching fraction ratios between the B s 0 β†’ Ο• e + more » e βˆ’ and B s 0 β†’ Ο• ΞΌ + ΞΌ βˆ’ decays are measured in three regions of dilepton mass squared, q 2 , with 0.1 < q 2 < 1.1 , 1.1 < q 2 < 6.0 , and 15 < q 2 < 19     GeV 2 / c 4 . The results agree with the standard model expectation of lepton flavor universality. Β© 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration 2025 CERN« less
  9. Study of Ξ› b 0 and Ξ b 0 Decays to Ξ› h + h β€² βˆ’ and Evidence for C P Violation in Ξ› b 0 β†’ Ξ› K + K βˆ’ Decays

    A study of Ξ› b 0 and Ξ b 0 decays to Ξ› h + h β€² βˆ’ ( h ( β€² ) = Ο€ , K ) is performed using p p collision data collected by the LHCb experiment during LHC Runs 1–2, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9     fb βˆ’ 1 more » . The branching fractions for these decays are measured using the Ξ› b 0 β†’ Ξ› c + ( β†’ Ξ› Ο€ + ) Ο€ βˆ’ decay as a control channel. The decays Ξ› b 0 β†’ Ξ› Ο€ + Ο€ βˆ’ and Ξ b 0 β†’ Ξ› K βˆ’ Ο€ + are observed for the first time. For decay modes with sufficient signal yields, C P asymmetries are measured in the full and localized regions of the final-state phase space. Evidence is found for C P violation in the Ξ› b 0 β†’ Ξ› K + K βˆ’ decay, interpreted as originating primarily from an asymmetric Ξ› b 0 β†’ N * + K βˆ’ decay amplitude. The measured C P asymmetries for other decays are compatible with zero. Β© 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration 2025 CERN« less
  10. Observation of the Open-Charm Tetraquark Candidate T c s 0 * ( 2870 ) 0 in the B βˆ’ β†’ D βˆ’ D 0 K S 0 Decay

    An amplitude analysis of B βˆ’ β†’ D βˆ’ D 0 K S 0 decays is performed using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9     fb βˆ’ 1 , collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. A resonant structure of spin-parity 0 + is observedmore » in the D 0 K S 0 invariant-mass spectrum with a significance of 5.3 Οƒ . The mass and width of the state, modeled with a Breit-Wigner line shape, are determined to be 2883 Β± 11 Β± 8     MeV / c 2 and 87 βˆ’ 47 + 22 Β± 17     MeV , respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These properties and the quark content are consistent with those of the open-charm tetraquark candidate T c s 0 * ( 2870 ) 0 observed previously in the D + K βˆ’ final state of the B βˆ’ β†’ D βˆ’ D + K βˆ’ decay. This result confirms the existence of the T c s 0 * ( 2870 ) 0 state in a new decay mode. The T c s 1 * ( 2900 ) 0 state, reported in the B βˆ’ β†’ D βˆ’ D + K βˆ’ decay, is also searched for in the D 0 K S 0 invariant-mass spectrum of the B βˆ’ β†’ D βˆ’ D 0 K S 0 decay, without finding evidence for it.
