A new one-neutron adding reaction on Be-11 was performed at 26.9A MeV. The elastic-scattering data was measured simultaneously to determine the target component and optical potentials for the entrance channel. A special isomer-tagging method was used to determine the cross sections for the 0(2)(+) state. Invariant-mass spectroscopy of ${}^{18}{Ne}, {}^{16}O$ , and ${}^{10}C$ excited states formed in neutron-transfer reactions

Neutron-transfer reactions with fast secondary beams of¹⁷Ne, ¹⁵O, and ⁹C have been studied with the HiRA and CAESAR arrays. Excited states of ¹⁸Ne, ¹⁶O, and ¹⁰C in the continuum have been identified using invariant-mass spectroscopy. The best experimental resolution of these states is achieved by selecting events where the decay fragments are emitted transverse to the beam direction. We have confirmed a number of spin assignments made in previous works for the negative-parity states of ¹⁸Ne. One-proton and one-neutron knockout reactions from $N = Z = 28 {}^{56}{Ni}$ to the $A = 55$ mirror pair ${}^{55}{Co}$ and ${}^{55}{Ni}$

We present a high-resolution in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy study of excited states in the mirror nuclei ⁵⁵Co and ⁵⁵Ni following one-nucleon knockout from a projectile beam of ⁵⁶Ni. The newly determined partial cross sections and the γ-decay properties of excited states provide a test of state-of-the-art nuclear structure models and probe mirror symmetry in unique ways. The new experimental data are compared to large-scale shell-model calculations in the full pf space which include charge-dependent contributions. A mirror asymmetry for the partial cross sections leading to the two lowest 3/2^- states in the A = 55 mirror pair was identified as well as a significant difference in the E1 decays from the 1/2more »« less

Low-lying excited states in P^38,40 have been identified in the β decay of T_z=+5,+6, Si^38,40. Based on the allowed nature of the Gamow-Teller (GT) decay observed, these states are assigned spin and parity of 1⁺ and are core-excited 1p1h intruder states with a parity opposite to the ground state. The occurrence of intruder states at low energies highlights the importance of pairing and quadrupole correlation energies in lowering the intruder states despite the N=20 shell gap.
