The ground states of quantum spin-1/2 {ital XY} ferromagnetic triangular and square systems are investigated with the Green's-function Monte Carlo method. Simulations are performed on {ital L}{times}{ital L} two-dimensional lattices with {ital L} up to 19. The long-range orders as well as ground-state energies are obtained for both lattices and are extrapolated to infinite system size. The long-range order (LRO) is computed directly using kernels from the system Hamiltonian and a perturbed'' Hamiltonian involving the LRO operator. Decoupling in the one-dimensional frustrated quantum [ital XY] model and Josephson-junction ladders: Ising critical behavior

A generalization of the one-dimensional frustrated quantum [ital XY] model is considered in which the interchain and intrachain coupling constants of the two infinite [ital XY] (planar rotor) chains have different strengths. The model can describe the superconductor to insulator transition due to charging effects in a ladder of Josephson junctions in a magnetic field with half a flux quantum per plaquette. Superaging and Subaging Phenomena in a Nonequilibrium Critical Behavior of the Structurally Disordered Two-Dimensional XY Model

A Monte Carlo numerical simulation of the specific features of nonequilibrium critical behavior is carried out for the two-dimensional structurally disordered XY model during its evolution from a low-temperature initial state. On the basis of the analysis of the two-time dependence of autocorrelation functions and dynamic susceptibility for systems with spin concentrations of p = 1.0, 0.9, and 0.6, aging phenomena characterized by a slowing down of the relaxation system with increasing waiting time and the violation of the fluctuation–dissipation theorem (FDT) are revealed. Critical behavior of the two-dimensional XY model

We present detailed Monte Carlo results for the susceptibility {chi}, correlation length {xi}, and specific heat {ital C}{sub {ital v}} for the {ital XY} model. The simulations are done on 64{sup 2}, 128{sup 2}, 256{sup 2}, and 512{sup 2} lattices over the temperature range 0.98{le}{ital T}{le}1.43 corresponding to 2{lt}{xi}{lt}70. Fits to {chi} and {xi} data favor a Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT) singularity over a second-order transition; however, unconstrained four-parameter KT fits do not confirm the predicted values {nu}=0.5 and {eta}=0.25. 1{bold /}{omega} Flux Noise and Dynamical Critical Properties of Two-Dimensional {ital XY} Models

We have numerically studied the dynamic correlation functions in thermodynamic equilibrium of two-dimensional O(2) symmetry models with either bond [resistively shunted Josephson (RSJ)] or site [time-dependent Ginsburg-Landau (TDGL)] dissipation as a function of temperature T. We find that above the critical temperature the frequency dependent flux noise S{sub {Phi}}({omega}){approximately}{vert_bar}1+( {omega}/{Omega}){sup 2}{vert_bar}{sup -{alpha} (T)/2}, with 0.85{le}{alpha}(TDGL)(T){le}0.95 and 1.17{le}{alpha}(RSJ)( T){le}1.27, while the dynamic critical exponents z(TDGL){approximately}2.0 and z(RSJ){approximately}0.9.
