The ⁶Li(p,γ) ⁷Be cross section influences a variety of astrophysical scenarios, including big-bang and stellar nucleosynthesis. In recent years, conflicting results of direct measurements have been published, reporting contradictory low-energy trends. To shed light on the contradiction between the existing data sets, the reaction was studied using the asymptotic normalization coefficient (ANC) technique which was up-to-now never used for this reaction. Trojan horse method as an indirect approach to study resonant reactions in nuclear astrophysics

The primary goal of the Trojan horse method (THM) is to analyze resonant rearrangement reactions when the density of the resonance levels is low and statistical models cannot be applied. The main difficulty of the analysis is related with the facts that in the final state the THM reaction involves three particles and that the intermediate particle, which is transferred from the Trojan horse particle to the target nucleus to form a resonance state, is virtual. The $^3$He+$^5$He$$\rightarrow $$ $$\alpha $$+$$\alpha $$ reaction below the Coulomb barrier via the Trojan Horse Method

For the first time in an application to nuclear astrophysics, a process induced by the unstable ⁵He = (⁴He-n) nucleus, the ³He+⁵He→2α reaction, has been studied through the Trojan Horse Method (THM). For that purpose, the quasi-free (QF) contribution of the ⁹Be(³He,αα)⁴He reaction was selected at E₃ _He =4 MeV incident energy. The reaction was studied in a kinematically complete experiment following a recent publication, where for the quasi free contribution the momentum distribution between α and ⁵He particle cluster in the ⁹Be nucleus in the ground state have been extracted.
