Here, we compute the contribution from the twist-3 fragmentation function for light hadron production in collisions between transversely and longitudinally polarized protons, i.e., View the MathML sourcep↑p^→→hX, which can cause a double-spin asymmetry (DSA) A_LT. This is a naïve T-even twist-3 observable that we analyze in collinear factorization using both Feynman gauge and lightcone gauge as well as give a general proof of color gauge invariance. So far only twist-3 effects in the transversely polarized proton have been studied for A_LT in p↑p^→→hX. Higher-Twist Contributions to Large Transverse Momentum Hadron Production in hadronic collisions

The scaling behavior of large-p{sub {perpendicular}} hadron production in hadronic collisions is investigated. A significant deviation from the NLO QCD predictions is reported, especially at high values of x{sub {perpendicular}} = 2p{sub {perpendicular}}/{radical}s. In contrast, the prompt photon and jet production data prove in agreement with leading-twist expectations. These results are interpreted as coming from a non-negligible contribution of higher-twist processes, where the hadron is produced directly in the hard subprocess. Predictions for scaling exponents at RHIC are successfully compared to PHENIX preliminary measurements. Gaugino-pair production in polarized and unpolarized hadron collisions

We present an exploratory study of gaugino-pair production in polarized and unpolarized hadron collisions, focusing on the correlation of beam polarization and gaugino/Higgsino mixing in the general minimal supersymmetric standard model. Helicity-dependent cross sections induced by neutral and charged electroweak currents and squark exchanges are computed analytically in terms of generalized charges, defined similarly for chargino-pair, neutralino-chargino associated, and neutralino-pair production. Our results confirm and extend those obtained previously for negligible Yukawa couplings and nonmixing squarks. Novel structure function for photon fragmentation into a {Lambda} hyperon and transverse {Lambda} polarization in unpolarized electron-positron annihilation

The possibility is examined for the inclusive {Lambda} in unpolarized electron-positron annihilation to be transversely polarized. Because of final-state interactions, there exists a novel structure function {ital {cflx F}}({ital z},{ital Q}{sup 2}) for inclusive {Lambda} hyperon (or any other baryons) production from unpolarized timelike photon fragmentation, which makes a contribution to the transverse {Lambda} polarization in unpolarized electron-positron annihilation.

Twist-3 quark-gluon correlation contribution to single-transverse spin asymmetry for direct-photon and single-jet productions in pp collision

We study the contribution of the collinear twist-3 quark-gluon correlation to the single transversespin asymmetry in direct-photon and single-jet productions in pp collision. At typical RHIC kinematics we find sizable asymmetries in the forward region of the polarized nucleon while they are almost zero in the backward region. We also find the soft-fermion pole contribution is vanishingly small, suggesting the measurement of these asymmetries provides us with an unique opportunity to determine the net soft-gluon pole function.
