Radiation damage is an inherently multi-scale phenomenon, with much of the key material evolution occurring at the mesoscale. Current techniques for the direct interrogation of material property changes due to irradiation either function with very small volumes, such as in-situ TEM, cannot cover the full range of defect populations produced, such as in positron annihilation spectroscopy, or requires destruction of the test material, such as in standard or micromechanical testing. Tungsten is a promising candidate material for plasma-facing armour components in future fusion reactors. A key concern is irradiation-induced degradation of its normally excellent thermal transport properties. In this comprehensive study, thermal diffusivity degradation in ion-implanted tungsten and its evolution from room temperature (RT) to 1073 K is considered. Five samples were exposed to 20 MeV self-ions at RT to achieve damage levels ranging from 3.2 x 10^-4 to 3.2 displacements per atom (dpa).
