Effect of oxygen plasma on field emission characteristics of single-wall carbon nanotubes grown by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition system

Field emission properties of single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) grown on iron catalyst film by plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition system were studied in diode configuration. The results were analysed in the framework of Fowler-Nordheim theory. The grown SWCNTs were found to be excellent field emitters, having emission current density higher than 20 mA/cm{sup 2} at a turn-on field of 1.3 V/μm. Narrow Bloch walls and intrinsic characteristics of the pseudoternary Nd sub 14 Fe sub 78 minus x Mn sub x C sub 8 systems

The lattice constants of Nd{sub 14}Fe{sub 78{minus}{ital x}}Mn{sub {ital x}}C{sub 8} compounds decrease with the increase of Mn context {ital x} and have a minimum at about {ital x}=14. The Curie temperature {ital T}{sub {ital c}} decreases linearly and falls off below room temperature beyond {ital x}=14. The strong reduction of the saturation magnetization and {ital T}{sub {ital c}} are attributed to the antiparallel alignment of the Mn and Fe atoms moments. The behavior of magnetization and magnetization reversal in the high-Mn-containing samples at low temperature can be interpreted by the narrow domain wall effect. Structural thermal break systems for buildings: Heat transfer characteristics of lightweight structural concrete walls: Final report

A lightweight structural concrete was developed for use in exterior walls of low-rise residential and commercial buildings. The lightweight concrete has a unit weight of 50 pcf (800 kg/m/sup 3/), a compressive strength of 2000 psi (13.8 MPa) and a thermal conductivity of 1.6 Btu/center dot/in./hr/center dot/ft/sup 2//center dot//degree/F (0.23 W/m/center dot/K). Lightweight concretes have not been previously developed with this combination of low density and moderate compressive strength.
