Search for Violations of Lorentz Invariance and $C P T$ Symmetry in $B_{(s)}^{0}$ Mixing

Violations of CPT symmetry and Lorentz invariance are searched for by studying interference effects in B⁰ mixing and in B⁰_s mixing. Samples of B⁰ → J/ψK⁰_S and B⁰_s → J/ψK⁺K^– decays are recorded by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^–1. No periodic variations of the particle-antiparticle mass differences are found, consistent with Lorentz invariance and CPT symmetry. Results are expressed in terms of the standard model extension parameter Δa_μ with precisions of O(10^–15) and O(10^–14) GeV for the B⁰ and B⁰_s systems, respectively. Withmore »« less

Searches for double beta decay of ${}^{134}{Xe}$ with EXO-200

Searches for double beta decay of 134Xe were performed with EXO-200, a single-phase liquid xenon detector designed to search for neutrinoless double beta decay of 136Xe. Using an exposure of 29.6 kg · yr, the lower limits of T2νββ 1=2 > 8.7 × 1020 yr and T0νββ 1=2 > 1.1 × 1023 yr at 90% confidence level were derived, with corresponding half-life sensitivities of 1.2 × 1021 yr and 1.9 × 1023 yr. These limits exceed those in the literature for 134Xe, improving by factors of nearly 105 and 2 for the two antineutrino and neutrinoless modes, respectively.
