Topological ultranodal pair states in iron-based superconductors

Abstract Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces are contours of zero-energy excitations that are protected in the superconducting state. Here we show that multiband superconductors with dominant spin singlet, intraband pairing of spin-1/2 electrons can undergo a transition to a state with Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces if spin-orbit coupling, interband pairing and time reversal symmetry breaking are also present. These latter effects may be small, but drive the transition to the topological state for appropriate nodal structure of the intra-band pair. Orbital selective pairing and gap structures of iron-based superconductors

We discuss the in uence on spin-fluctuation pairing theory of orbital selective strong correlation effects in Fe-based superconductors, particularly Fe chalcogenide systems. We propose that a key ingredient for an improved itinerant pairing theory is orbital selectivity, i.e., incorporating the reduced coherence of quasiparticles occupying specific orbital states. This modifies the usual spin-fluctuation via suppression of pair scattering processes involving those less coherent states and results in orbital selective Cooper pairing of electrons in the remaining states. Quasiparticle interference and symmetry of superconducting order parameter in strongly electron-doped iron-based superconductors

Motivated by recent experimental reports of significant spin–orbit coupling (SOC) and a signchanging order-parameter in the Li_1-xFe_x(OHFe)_1-yZn_ySe superconductor with only electron pockets present, we study the possible Cooper-pairing symmetries and their quasiparticle interference (QPI) signatures.Wefind that each of the resulting states—s-wave, d-wave and helical p-wave—can have a fully gapped density of states consistent with angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments and, due to SOC, are a mixture of spin singlet and triplet components leading to intraand inter-band features in the QPI signal.
