We show that an arbitrary relative phase can be extracted from a multiqubit two-component (MTC) entangled state by local Hadamard transformations and measurements along a single basis only. In addition, how to distinguish a MTC entangled state with an arbitrary entanglement degree and relative phase from a class of multiqubit mixed states is discussed.

Excitation of highly excited states by collisions between two excited cesium atoms

Fluorescence from highly excited atomic states has been observed in cesium vapor irradiated by a dye laser tuned to either one of the 6/sup 2/S--7/sup 2/P transitions. The emission originated from levels as high as 1 eV above the state being pumped. The high-lying states are believed to be excited by an electronic energy transfer induced in a collision of two atoms occupying lower excited levels.

A study was made of the role of the proportion of two-phonon components in the wave functions for the first and second vibrational states with given K/sup ..pi../ in even-even deformed nuclei. The calculations were performed with the one-particle energies and wave functions for the Saxon-Woods potential; three one-phonon components are incorporated. It is found that the first vibrational states having K/sup ..pi../ not equal to 0/sup +/ are virtually one-phonon ones. The proportions of two-phonon components are more important for the second states.
