In relativistic heavy-ion collisions, the production of heavy quarks at large transverse momenta is strongly suppressed compared to proton-proton collisions. In addition, an unexpectedly large azimuthal anisotropy was observed for the emission of charmed hadrons in noncentral collisions. Both observations pose challenges to the theoretical understanding of the coupling between heavy quarks and the quark-gluon plasma produced in these collisions. Transport models for the evolution of heavy quarks in a QCD medium offer the opportunity to study these effects; two of the most successful approaches are based on the linearized Boltzmann transport equation and the Langevin equation. Theory of friction: Coulomb drag between two closely spaced solids

We calculate the friction force between two metallic bodies with flat surfaces separated by a vacuum slab of thickness d, and moving with a relative velocity v. The separation d is assumed to be so large that the only interaction between the bodies is via the Coulomb field. The friction force depends linearly on the velocity v (for small v) and decays rapidly with increasing d. In most practical cases, the Coulomb drag makes a negligible contribution to the friction force, but it may make an important contribution in some special cases. {copyright} {ital 1998} {ital The American Physical Society}

We develop a theory of Coulomb drag due to momentum transfer between graphene layers in a strong magnetic field. The theory is intended to apply in systems with disorder that is weak compared to Landau level separation, so that Landau level mixing is weak but strong compared to correlation energies within a single Landau level, so that fractional quantum Hall physics is not relevant. We find that, in contrast to the zero-field limit, the longitudinal magneto-Coulomb drag is finite and, in fact, attains a maximum at the simultaneous charge neutrality point (CNP) of both layers.
